Where There’s Smoke explores how the free boxing gyms and tutoring spaces for the underserved communities of NYC youth have been almost entirely funded by events known as SMOKERS, a boxing event where New York first responders especially the NYPD fight each other to raise money. In a political landscape fraught with divisive and contentious issues, the one thing that might be able to bring the community and the police department together is a fight unlike any other. We dive deep into the motivations behind the polarizing characters that keep the NYPD smoker program alive in an attempt to save the gyms that keep our children safe.
